This is not the Hawaiian Gecko

Geckos are strange little animals that attract allot of attention for the songs they make. To people living in Hawaii they are a bit pesky because they always find a way into your house to lay eggs, but to tourist they are they cute little animals that chirp. The Hawaiian gecko is commonly mistaken with the green lizards that are also very common in Hawaii(see photo).

Most Hawaiian Geckos are transparent in the light and have a tanish body color. There are over nine hundred species worldwide but only eight species live in the Hawaiian islands. They are the only lizards that make sounds. The Hawaiian gecko sound is similar to a bird chirp. They eat insects like mosquitoes, flies, etc. They have bizarre little toes that have suction cups on them allowing them to walk on walls, windows, and upside down on the roof.
